With more than forty years of experience in arboriculture and urban forestry, he has lectured widely on plant health care, historic trees, and tree preservation. His book John Muir Climbs a Tree and Other Tree Tales is believed to be the first anthology devoted entirely to stories about trees, exploring the cultural, historical, and personal relationships people have with trees.
